TVS Leads India’s Electric 2W Market: TVS Motor retained the top position in India’s electric two-wheeler market in August 2026, selling 48,873 units, up 91% year-on-year. The company held a 27% market share, with the iQube and Orbiter driving sales. Despite an 12% monthly decline from July, TVS continues to dominate the growing electric scooter segment.

Bajaj Chetak Holds Second Position: Bajaj Auto remained the second-largest electric two-wheeler manufacturer in August, recording 41,019 retail sales. The Chetak maker registered a sharp 235% year-on-year increase, although the comparison was affected by supply-chain disruptions in August 2025. Bajaj has also crossed 300,000 electric two-wheeler sales during the first eight months of 2026.

Ather Strengthens Its Market Position: Ather Energy sold 28,708 electric scooters in August 2026, marking 49% year-on-year growth. The company held a 16% monthly market share and remained firmly in third place. Ather’s growing sales come as it expands beyond its established 450 range and Rizta lineup, while its newly launched Konarc targets a wider, more price-conscious customer base.

Vida Continues Its Strong Growth: Hero MotoCorp’s Vida brand recorded 18,978 electric two-wheeler sales in August, securing fourth place with a 10% market share. Sales increased 38% year-on-year, supported by demand for the Vida VX2 Go and Plus models. The brand’s battery-as-a-service option has also helped lower the upfront ownership cost and broaden its appeal among electric scooter buyers.

Ola Electric Remains In The Top Five: Ola Electric sold 13,849 electric two-wheelers in August 2026, placing fifth among India’s leading manufacturers. Sales declined 29% year-on-year, while its market share stood at 8%. Ola’s January-August sales reached 94,307 units, down 39% from the corresponding period last year, highlighting the changing competitive landscape in India’s electric two-wheeler market.

Greaves Electric Mobility Enters The Top Six: Greaves Electric Mobility, which sells Ampere electric scooters, ranked sixth in August with 8,612 units. Sales jumped 89% year-on-year, giving the company a 5% market share. Its portfolio includes the Nexus and Magnus range, while newer products such as the Magnus Neo and upgraded Magnus G Max are helping the brand compete in India’s rapidly expanding electric scooter market.

Electric 2W Market Heads Towards A Record Year: India’s electric two-wheeler market recorded 182,936 retail sales in August 2026, taking January-August sales to 1.36 million units. The segment is now on course to cross two million annual sales for the first time. With TVS, Bajaj, Ather and Vida controlling 75% of August sales, competition is expected to intensify during the upcoming festive season.
