IO Interactive launched the 007 First Light – Free Starter Pack on Steam and Xbox Series X|S. The pack lets players experience the action game's opening mission without purchasing the full title. The company confirmed that the PlayStation 5 version will follow on November 10, 2026.
The Starter Pack gives players access to the game’s opening mission, 'Against the Odds.' The mission takes place in Iceland and introduces players to a younger James Bond at the start of his journey.
IO Interactive says the experience offers about an hour of gameplay. The release follows the publisher’s familiar approach from the Hitman series, where free Starter Packs allow players to sample a game before committing to a purchase.
The free pack includes the complete opening mission rather than a short technical demo. Players can explore the Iceland setting, complete objectives, and experience the game’s opening narrative. The content is designed to work as a standalone introduction to the full campaign.
Progress earned in the Starter Pack will carry over to the full game. This means players who enjoy the opening mission can continue their save file after purchasing 007 First Light, rather than restarting from the beginning.
The Starter Pack is available now on Steam and Xbox Series X|S. Microsoft’s listing confirms that the Xbox version is optimised for Series X|S consoles and supports Xbox Play Anywhere.
PlayStation 5 players will need to wait a few more days. IO Interactive will release the full Starter Pack on PS5 on November 10.
Until then, PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers can access a one-hour timed trial of the game. This trial gives PS5 owners an opportunity to try the game before the full Starter Pack becomes available.
