The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) is in discussion with the Department of Government Enablement to introduce the world’s first AI-powered judicial platform. The initiative highlights a major step in Abu Dhabi’s aim to integrate artificial intelligence into government operations and public services.
The agenda focuses on translating the vision of an AI-powered judicial platform into execution. The initiative signals a move beyond conventional digital courts towards AI-led judicial services. However, the department has not publicly disclosed the platform’s complete technical architecture or launch date.
Counsellor Yousef Saeed Al Abri, Undersecretary of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, said, “The move towards implementing this innovative judicial system reflects the vision of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of UAE, to drive innovation and adopt future technologies to enhance government services. The initiative also aligns with the directives of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Presidential Court and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, to advance the judicial system in line with the highest international standards and accelerate the adoption of smart justice technologies.”
The proposed platform will use artificial intelligence across judicial processes and service delivery. Its potential applications include:

However, the role of AI in judicial decision-making remains a critical issue. Courts need to ensure that technology supports judges and judicial institutions without compromising due process, transparency or human oversight.
The initiative comes as the UAE accelerates its plans to embed AI across government operations. The country announced a framework to deploy agentic AI across 50% of government sectors and operations within two years. UAE now stands as a global testbed for autonomous government services.
AI has become the key pillar in the Abu Dhabi government’s digital transformation. The new platform could serve as an important project for implementing state-of-the-art AI in a highly regulated and sensitive government sector.
