Apple might be planning to skip offering a black color option for the iPhone 18 Pro lineup, according to recent leaks. This decision also applies to the iPhone 17 Pro, which did not include a black finish. Although the Cupertino-based tech giant had discussed introducing new color options, it appears this change will not be implemented.

Apple Updates: iPhone 18 Pro Features

The iPhone 18 Pro series is expected to launch later this year. According to the tipster ‘Instant Digital’ (translated from Chinese), Apple has canceled the black color option for the iPhone 18 Pro again. The tipster has claimed this update in a Weibo post.

He further highlighted that the iPhone 17 Pro would have the same fate. The iPhone 17 Pro was launched without a black finish, but it was expected to add one later. Instead, Apple introduced colors like orange, blue, and silver for the flagship model.

The orange color, marketed as Cosmic Orange, reportedly performed well in several markets. In China, the Cosmic orange color resulted in increased sales of the iPhone 17 Pro. The new color options and refreshed design made the latest iPhone more visually distinct.

Apple iPhone 18 Pro: Everything We Know So Far

The upcoming iPhone models are also expected to bring a few hardware and design changes. The iPhone 18 Pro models can feature a battery capacity exceeding 5,000 mAh, a 2nm A20 Pro chip, and advanced cameras with larger apertures. The iPhone 18 Pro Max and iPhone 18 Pro are likely to make a debut in September 2026. Additionally, the iPhone Fold is expected to be available for sale a month later.

Other leaks suggest that the iPhone 18 Pro models will feature a pill-shaped Face ID cutout, but in a smaller size. It could shrink from about 20.76 mm to around 13.49 mm. Apple has always been criticized for its ‘big promises and little results’ when it comes to delivering updates. Looks like this time, it was no exception either.
