Apple’s iPhone Ultra Could Cost AED 9,000 and Still Sell Out Instantly for its Limited Stock

Apple's first foldable iPhone could become the company's most expensive smartphone yet, but the biggest challenge for buyers is likely to be limited availability rather than its price. Recent supply chain reports indicate that the rumored iPhone Ultra might retail for between $2,300 and $2,500 (approximately AED 8,400 to AED 9,200), and the device's very limited production might make it among the toughest-to-get Apple products ever.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes that Apple could launch its foldable alongside the iPhone 18 Pro range this year. But Apple is aiming for a gradual release strategy rather than a sudden global launch of the device. Initial supply is expected to be limited compared with anticipated demand.

Supply Constraints Could Delay Deliveries

According to Kuo's latest supply chain survey, “Apple may produce only 500,000 to one million foldable iPhones during the third quarter. Total shipments for the second half of 2026 are estimated at seven to eight million units. In comparison, Apple could have 20 to 22 million units of the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max ready during the same period.”

This limited supply may compel Apple to adopt a launch strategy much like the one used for the iPhone X back in 2017. Even though the device is launched alongside other iPhones, it may take some weeks before it hits stores. Customers who miss the initial pre-order window may have to wait for four to six weeks.

Despite the iPhone 15 Pro Max being Apple's most expensive phone ever, analysts still expect demand to be strong. While Apple is late to enter the foldable smartphone market, it seems confident in its loyal customers' willingness.

Apple Targets the Premium Foldable Market

Experts suggest that the next-generation foldable iPhone Ultra will have a 5.5-inch outer display and a 7.8-inch foldable inner display. The ultra-thin design is aimed at competing with Samsung's premium foldables and those from other Android brands.

Apple has not officially confirmed the device, its specifications, pricing, or launch timeline. However, the very first foldable iPhone could command one of the highest prices in the smartphone industry. Becoming one of the most difficult Apple products to purchase at launch.
