Anthropic has launched a research preview of Claude Duet. It is an AI assistant that manages email, calendar tasks and background work, though users in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Egypt cannot access it yet.

The service is currently restricted to users in the US with a Claude account and a Pro or Max subscription. Applicants must also receive an invitation through Anthropic’s waitlist. The company has not announced a launch date for other markets.

How Claude Duet Works

Unlike the standard Claude app, Duet can initiate work without waiting for users to send a prompt. It reviews connected email and calendar accounts, highlights priorities and prepares draft replies. VentureBeat reports that its background checks run every few hours rather than continuously.

Users can assign larger projects through a persistent chat. Completed work, including research briefs, financial models and presentations, appears in a dedicated Make section. A separate Tasks section tracks ongoing assignments.

Anthropic says Duet supports more than 6,000 connectors and plugins, including Gmail, Google Calendar, Slack and QuickBooks. It runs on Claude Opus 5.5 and shares the user's existing Claude memories, skills and connectors.

The company says Duet seeks approval before sending messages, making payments, signing documents or deleting information. It cannot trade securities or transfer money between accounts. Microsoft 365 support is not yet available.’

Subscription Limits and Regional Access

Duet costs nothing extra during the preview, though its background activity and projects count towards existing five-hour and weekly usage limits. Pro costs USD 20 monthly, while Max starts at USD 100. Anthropic has also offered admitted users one full usage-limit reset, available until 30 November 2026.

The launch places Duet alongside Meta’s Muse and OpenAI’s Dots in the emerging AI agent market. For users across the Gulf and Egypt, access will depend on Anthropic’s future expansion plans.
