The UAE is upgrading its cybersecurity capabilities with the launch of an Innovation Center of Excellence (CoE) in Abu Dhabi, established in collaboration with the UAE Cyber Security Council and Commvault. The partnership aims to strengthen cyber resilience across government entities, critical infrastructure operators, and enterprises as cyber threats surge.
H.E. Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, Head of Cybersecurity for the UAE Government, explained, “Cyber-resilience is a national imperative, and it requires more than the ability to defend; it requires the capacity to recover. This Centre of Excellence with Commvault directly advances that capacity, bringing enterprise-grade recovery simulation and structured talent certification to the UAE’s government entities and critical infrastructure operators.”
Cybersecurity efforts have taken a new dimension in the United Arab Emirates. All thanks to the creation of the Innovation Center of Excellence (CoE). The initiative, launched by the UAE Cyber Security Council and Commvault, aims to strengthen cyber resilience among government agencies, critical infrastructure operators, and businesses as cyber threats continue to evolve.
The important part of the strategy is the creation of a Regional Commvault Readiverse setup. With the help of simulations like ‘Minutes to Meltdown’ and ‘Minutes to Recovery,’ government bodies and corporations will be able to test their skills in dealing with cyberattacks and recovering from them. This way of working is becoming popular, given the industry's focus on cyber recovery and resilience.
Furthermore, there is an educational aspect that seeks to build cybersecurity capacity within the UAE. University students will receive cybersecurity training through online courses that can lead to professional certification. Those who succeed will be awarded Commvault Practitioner Certifications, thereby creating a pool of cyber-resilient professionals.
The program fits into the UAE’s overall agenda for securing its digital economy. With the collaboration between governmental organizations, universities, start-ups, infrastructure providers, and tech companies, the center seeks to foster innovation in cybersecurity. According to Commvault executives, the center will boost the UAE’s position as a global leader in cybersecurity innovation.
