Google expands access to Gemini Spark, its 24/7 personal AI agent, as the company pushes Gemini beyond a chatbot just responding to prompts. The latest rollout brings the agent to Google AI Pro subscribers in the US. Google AI Ultra subscribers can access it in supported markets worldwide, subject to regional restrictions.
Gemini Spark will be able to operate on tasks on behalf of the users without requiring every command. Users will be able to create their tasks, build their schedules, and set up their workflows that run in the background. The agent can keep working in the background even if the user is not interacting with the Gemini app.
Spark from Google can be seen as an autonomous layer in the AI ecosystem of Google. The agent can connect itself with services like Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, YouTube, and Google Maps.
The broader availability comes as technology companies compete to develop AI agents capable of completing multi-step tasks. Google is using Gemini Spark to shift the focus from generating answers to executing workflows.
Greater autonomy also brings greater responsibility. While Google claims that the AI works on command by the user, it warns in the company’s help files that Spark AI can make errors. The company warns users not to enter any private information directly in the thread and to be careful with scheduling any potentially important actions.

The company aims to transform AI from an interface that can answer questions to a digital helper that will control information and perform tasks with a minimum level of supervision by the user.
