The UAE has always built at scale. The pace and ambition of its infrastructure development has now moved up another level. Across energy, transport, digital systems, and urban development, the country is executing projects worth hundreds of billions of dirhams. Individually, each is significant. The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure has launched the first phase of a programme to reduce energy and water consumption across government buildings. The initiative begins with 60 facilities, backed by an investment of AED 120 million. A second phase will expand the programme to 360 buildings, with a total investment of AED 1 billion in partnership with the private sector.
Alongside this, Emirates Water and Electricity Company has received multiple bids for the 3.3GW Al Nouf 1 Independent Power Producer project in Abu Dhabi, one of the largest of its kind in the country. Clean power at this scale directly supports the UAE's Net Zero 2050 targets and reduces dependence on fossil fuel-based generation.
One of the largest infrastructure investments in UAE history is currently underway, focusing on expanding and modernising key highways. Emirates Road will be widened with ten additional lanes, increasing capacity by 65 percent and cutting travel times by 45 percent. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road will also gain ten new lanes, boosting capacity by 45 percent.
At street level, Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority has installed 726 modern bus shelters and developed three integrated truck rest areas with capacity for 490 heavy vehicles. The second phase of the Hessa Street development project spans 3 kilometres, includes major bridges and a tunnel, and is expected to benefit around 650,000 residents.
By 2026, Dubai aims to operate one of the most advanced and intelligent transportation ecosystems globally, incorporating AI-powered traffic systems, flying taxis, and high-speed rail alongside expanded road capacity.
Stargate UAE is a 1GW compute cluster being built by G42 and operated by OpenAI and Oracle, forming part of a 5GW UAE-US AI campus in Abu Dhabi. The campus will span 10 square miles and run on nuclear, solar, and natural gas power. The first 200MW of the AI cluster is expected to go live in 2026.
Microsoft announced a major data centre expansion with an investment plan of USD 5.2 billion, delivered through Khazna Data Centers. This forms part of Microsoft's USD 7.9 billion investment in the UAE between 2026 and 2029. Projects of this scale establish the UAE as a genuine global hub for AI infrastructure, not just a regional one.

Dubai announced expansion projects in Dubai Silicon Oasis worth AED 12.8 billion, as well as the expansion of the Dubai International Financial Centre with a total floor area of 17.7 million square feet valued at AED 100 billion, alongside the launch of the Liwan Oasis eco-leisure project.
Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi secured five industrial and logistics projects in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain worth AED 147 million, creating 500 jobs. Economic zones like these are not peripheral additions. They are deliberate anchors for attracting manufacturing, logistics, and technology businesses that diversify the national revenue base.
What distinguishes the UAE's 2026 infrastructure push from previous cycles is integration. Energy projects connect to sustainability targets.
