Rockstar Games announced that Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6): An Extended Look will premiere exclusively on Netflix on August 27. The presentation will debut at 3:00 PM ET (11:00 PM UAE time) for Netflix subscribers before becoming available six hours later on Rockstar Games' official YouTube channel and the GTA 6 website.
It is a clear indication that Rockstar is adopting a new marketing strategy while at the same time showcasing the expanding reach of Netflix in the gaming world. It is widely speculated that the showcase will feature the latest game footage, storyline, characters, locations, and more before the scheduled release of the game this year.
The six-hour exclusivity deal between Netflix and Rockstar Games is indeed quite significant. Netflix was gradually moving in on the video games industry through their mobile games and interactive entertainment but this is quite a big step in terms of their larger entertainment strategy.
