Xiaomi is preparing for one of the biggest hardware upgrades in Redmi's history. New leaks claim that a prototype of the upcoming Redmi K100 series features an ultra-fast display, a massive battery, and flagship-grade cameras in a single device.
Redmi is reportedly testing premium hardware ahead of the phone's expected debut in China. The prototype is believed to belong to either the Redmi K100 Pro or the Redmi K100 Pro Max, although the final branding remains unclear.
According to popular tipster Digital Chat Station, “The engineering unit sports a large flat display with rounded corners and an unusually high 185Hz refresh rate. If the feature reaches the commercial model, it would be among the fastest refresh rates seen on a mainstream smartphone.”
The smartphone will likely also have Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. This processor might come equipped with a separate display processor for improving the gaming experience, frame stability, and graphics processing.
It has been reported that Redmi might introduce the K100 series ahead of schedule because Xiaomi's flagship Xiaomi 18 series will be introduced first, equipped with Qualcomm's next-gen Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chip. The leak suggests substantial improvements in cameras as well. The phone will likely feature a 200-megapixel main camera and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera lens.
However, perhaps the most exciting part of the news is the battery. The phone will reportedly come equipped with a 9,000mAh battery, 100W wired fast charging, and wireless charging. Experts suggest the Redmi K100 Pro Max can bring a major upgrade with a 7,560mAh battery, 100W wired fast charging, and 50W wireless charging.
The prototype could also feature a 3D ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner, upgraded stereo speakers, a larger vibration motor, and IP68/IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance. Looks like Redmi is targeting the premium flagship segment. Xiaomi is yet to make an official announcement about the Redmi K100 series and confirm its release timeline.
