Motorists in the UAE will face higher fuel costs from September 1. This comes after the UAE Fuel Price Committee approved a fresh increase across petrol grades and diesel. Petrol prices will rise by 20 fils per liter and diesel will see a much sharper 50-fils increase.
The new rates will come into effect from Tuesday, September 1. Super 98 petrol will cost AED 3.80 per liter, compared with AED 3.60 in August. Special 95 will rise to AED 3.69 from AED 3.49, while E-Plus 91 will increase to AED 3.61 from AED 3.41.
Diesel users will see the biggest increase. The price will climb to AED 4.30 per liter from AED 3.80 in August, marking an AED 0.50 increase, or about 13.2%. The petrol increases range between 5.56% and 5.87%.
This September increase comes just after a price rise seen in August. Fuel prices had declined in July after several months of increases linked to turmoil in regional energy markets. But prices have risen again in August and will do so in September.
UAE will now see higher fuel costs as it enters September. With a 60-liter tank, refilling the tank with Special 95 will cost AED 221.40 in September, against AED 209.40 in August. This is an extra AED 12 per full tank.
For diesel vehicles, a 60-liter fill will cost AED 258 in September, compared to early price of AED 228. The increase adds AED 30 to each 60-liter refill.
Global oil markets have remained volatile amid renewed geopolitical tensions. Brent crude rose sharply on August 31, as Reuters reported Brent at around USD 90.51 a barrel after a 2.7% jump.
