Samsung has introduced Flex Titanium, a new display structure for its upcoming foldable smartphones. The announcement comes a little over a week before the company’s Galaxy Unpacked event in London on July 22. The tech giant says this technology can help reduce screen creases, improve display strength, and use less power, though it has not confirmed which smartphone will feature it first.

Focus of the New Display Structure

Flex Titanium uses two titanium-based components inside the foldable display structure. The first component is a titanium alloy film placed directly below the OLED panel. Samsung says this film is created through a precision rolling process. It is responsible for making it extremely thin while giving it higher strength compared with the earlier foldable displays.

The second flexible titanium plate sits beneath this layer. Samsung says the plate includes micro-patterned holes around the folding section. This design allows the display to bend more naturally while offering better support when the phone is fully open. Samsung Display executive Kyung-Jin Yoo confirmed that the micro-patterned design helps maintain flexibility while strengthening the folding section of the display.

Why Samsung is Turning to Titanium

Samsung has been using titanium in some of its premium smartphones as the material offers strong durability while keeping the design lightweight. Its ability to handle repeated pressure and stress also makes it useful for foldable devices that need more protection. The company used a titanium frame in the Galaxy S25 Ultra, while the Galaxy S26 Ultra moved back to an aluminium frame.

Samsung’s foldable phones have continued using titanium parts, including the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the recently showcased Galaxy Z TriFold. Samsung is bringing titanium into the display structure with Flex Titanium instead of only using it for the phone’s outer frame. The company aims to improve screen strength and the visible crease that appears after repeated folding.

First Device with Flex Titanium

Samsung has not revealed which smartphone will be the first to feature the new Flex Titanium display technology. According to reports, the technology could appear on the rumoured Galaxy Z Fold 8. However, Samsung has only confirmed that Flex Titanium is designed for its upcoming Galaxy foldable smartphones.

The company also hasn’t yet shared information about the pricing or the launch details of devices using this technology. Samsung is expected to provide more details at the Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22, where it will showcase its next-generation foldable phones.

Foldable Buyers Wait for Real-World Results

Samsung’s new display technology aims to solve two common concerns among foldable phone users. Many buyers still have questions about the screen crease and whether the inner display can stay strong with regular daily use.

If Flex Titanium performs as Samsung claims, future foldable devices could offer a more refined user experience and stronger daily reliability. Questions around pricing, supported models, and market availability still await official confirmation. Those answers are likely to shape how Samsung's next foldable lineup competes in the premium smartphone segment.
