Apple's upcoming iPhone 18e could bring a new processor and an upgraded front camera while retaining several specifications of its predecessor, the iPhone 17e. A new leak from tipster Digital Chat Station has revealed key details about the expected smartphone, reportedly set to launch in early 2027.
The leaked specifications suggest that Apple may focus on processing performance and camera improvements rather than a major redesign. However, the company has not officially confirmed the device or its specifications.
The leak suggests that iPhone 18e could be powered by Apple's A20 chip, built using a 2-nanometre manufacturing process. The processor is expected to deliver better performance and power efficiency than the A19 chip in the iPhone 17e.
The handset is tipped to feature a 6.12-inch LTPS OLED display with a 60Hz refresh rate. If accurate, this would mean Apple continues to reserve higher-refresh-rate displays for more expensive models in its smartphone lineup.
The reported display specs suggest the iPhone 18e may retain its predecessor's screen characteristics rather than receive a significant upgrade.

iPhone 18e is expected to feature a single 48-megapixel rear camera, according to the leak. This would match the iPhone 17e's main camera resolution, suggesting Apple may retain the existing rear camera configuration.
The front camera, however, could receive a more noticeable upgrade. Digital Chat Station suggests the upcoming smartphone may feature a 24-megapixel selfie camera, up from the iPhone 17e's 12-megapixel front camera.
If this upgrade materializes, it could offer higher-resolution selfies and improve flexibility for video calls and other front-camera applications. Apple has not revealed further details about the camera sensor or additional photography features.
Apple is expected to introduce the iPhone 18e in early 2027, potentially following the spring launch schedule used for previous models in its more affordable iPhone lineup.
The iPhone 17e launched in March 2026, making a similar timeframe plausible for its successor. However, Apple has not confirmed the launch date, availability, or pricing of the upcoming smartphone.
Treat the reported specifications as preliminary information until the company makes an official announcement.
Based on the latest leak, the iPhone 18e could get a processor upgrade and a higher-resolution front camera while keeping a 60Hz OLED display and a single rear camera.
The extent of the improvements will become clearer as more information emerges. Until Apple confirms the specifications, the reported features and launch timeline remain unverified.
