Anthropic is bringing personal finance management to its Claude chatbot. It allows paid subscribers in the US to connect bank accounts and review their financial activity through conversational AI.

The company announced the feature on November 5, saying it would begin rolling out in beta during the week. The launch expands Claude's capabilities into personal financial tracking as AI companies compete to offer services beyond traditional chatbot functions.

The feature will initially be available to subscribers on Claude's Pro, Max and Ultra plans in the US. Users can connect their bank and credit card accounts through Plaid, a financial technology service that links applications with banking institutions.

Spending Analysis

Once connected, users can ask Claude questions about their account balances, spending patterns and outstanding bills. The system is designed to understand everyday language, allowing users to seek financial information through ordinary conversations.

The integration gives subscribers a single interface to review information from their linked financial accounts. Users will not need to examine each account separately to ask basic questions about their finances.

Anthropic has placed limits on what the feature can do. Account access will be read-only, meaning Claude cannot transfer funds, manage accounts or make investments on behalf of users.

The company also clarified that the feature is not intended to provide investment advice. Its primary purpose is to help users understand their financial position and monitor everyday money matters.

Privacy Limits

Anthropic said the personal finance hub will not carry advertisements or sponsored recommendations. The company also stated that conversations within the feature will not be used to train its AI models.

The launch comes ahead of Anthropic's widely anticipated initial public offering. The company is expanding Claude's practical applications as competition intensifies across the artificial intelligence industry.

The new feature marks Anthropic's entry into AI-powered personal finance tracking, with account visibility and spending analysis forming its initial focus.
