Anthropic is bringing Claude Chat and Claude Cowork together in a single interface. The move removes the need for users to decide whether a task belongs in a standard conversation or a dedicated workspace.
The company announced the change on September 16, saying Claude can now determine which capabilities a task requires. Users can ask a quick question, launch deeper research, work with files or hand over a larger assignment from the same conversation.
The unified experience expands Claude beyond conventional chatbot interactions. It can search the web, read files, run code and assemble results into finished deliverables.
Anthropic further explained, “Users can ask Claude to analyse several interview notes, search the web for information, organise files or turn an analysis into a presentation. Claude can work through multiple steps, search the web, read files, run code and assemble the results without requiring users to manually break the task down.”
Anthropic is also introducing Claude Docs and Claude Slides in beta. Now you can create and refine documents with Claude. Slides can also generate presentations that users can edit and present.
Anthropic is also integrating Claude Design into conversations, extending its visual creation capabilities. Documents can be exported to Google Docs or Microsoft Word. Presentations can be downloaded as PowerPoint or PDF files.
The unified Claude experience is rolling out gradually to Pro and Max subscribers across web, desktop and mobile. Anthropic will extend it to Team and Free users later. Enterprise administrators will receive advance notice before the changes reach their organisations.
