Electronic Arts (EA) has brought 25 classic PC games to Steam. It is restoring popular titles such as Road Rash, Wing Commander and Ultima for modern players. The release includes seven anniversary editions and 18 additional games from the company's older catalogue. Announced on November 5, the collection gives longtime fans another opportunity to play several influential PC titles.
New players can also explore games that helped shape earlier generations of computer gaming. The seven anniversary editions cover Road Rash and six titles from the Wing Commander franchise. The remaining releases include several Ultima role-playing games, Crusader titles and Theme Hospital.
EA said the anniversary editions retain the original presentation and creative direction of each game. The company has also introduced technical improvements for modern computers. These updates cover system compatibility, controls and performance. The aim is to make the older titles easier to play without changing their original character. The restoration project also involved recovering previously lost cinematic material. EA discovered an archive containing thousands of physical media assets, including Betacam, VHS and D1 tapes.
The digitization process helped recover missing master full-motion video sequences. The team then restored more than 1,500 cinematic scenes across the seven anniversary editions. Community contributions also played a role in the Wing Commander releases. EA worked with fans to incorporate selected modifications into the official editions.
