First Abu Dhabi Bank has launched The Exchange, a new platform where experts can share ideas on how businesses should use artificial intelligence. The primary aim is to help companies bring AI to their daily work while keeping people in charge of key decisions. The first session took place at FAB’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi on October 16.

Hosted by the FAB AI Innovation Hub, the event brought together 30 people, including senior AI practitioners, technology and data leaders, researchers, business leaders and governance professionals from across industry, academia and regulation.

The discussion was named ‘AI Decision Making and Governance,’ which focused on how companies can use AI in a safe and fair way. Participants discussed how AI can help businesses make better choices, improve results, and remain responsible for their actions.

They also looked at how companies can move AI projects beyond small tests and use them across their business. Experts from FAB, NYU Abu Dhabi, and the ADGM Registration Authority shared their views. FAB said the series will help bring companies, universities, and regulators closer as the UAE expands its AI plans.

Who Takes Responsibility When AI Makes a Mistake?

AI can assist human beings in multiple ways, but it’s not perfect. While the use of AI makes loan checking, fraud detection, and answering customer queries easy, there are even risks. Even the slightest mistake can affect people’s money and access to services. Thus, companies must decide who checks AI decisions, how they record mistakes, and when a person needs to step in.

For example, AI often flags payments wrongly. In those cases, bank staff shouldn’t trust it blindly and should step in to review the claim. To streamline the process, banks need clear records of how decisions are made and processed. This can help teams find problems early and answer customer concerns.

FAB’s The Exchange shows why human judgment must remain part of AI use. As more businesses rely on these tools, clear rules, open decisions, and proper checks will help build trust.
