Netflix announced on October 13 that it had acquired exclusive rights to the 2030 FIFA World Cup in Spain and Andorra. The agreement will cover all 104 matches of the tournament, bringing the entire competition to subscribers in both markets.

The platform plans to provide comprehensive live coverage, including pre-match analysis, half-time programming and post-match discussions. It will also introduce daily match summaries and additional content to build interest ahead of the competition.

Selected Matches to Remain Free in Spain

Despite securing exclusive streaming rights, Netflix will ensure that viewers in Spain can watch selected matches without a subscription. Under the agreement, one match per matchday will be available free through a national free-to-air broadcaster.

The package will also include every match played by Spain, both semi-finals and the final. Netflix plans to announce further details about its partnership with the broadcaster closer to the tournament. The deal marks Netflix's first broadcast of a major men's international football tournament in Spain. The company has not disclosed the financial terms of the agreement.

The arrangement combines subscription-based streaming with free television access to key fixtures. It also gives football fans an alternative to watching the competition exclusively through a paid streaming service.

World Cup 2030 to Celebrate Tournament's Centenary

The 2030 FIFA World Cup will mark 100 years since the inaugural tournament took place in Uruguay in 1930. Spain, Portugal and Morocco will jointly host the main competition.

Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay will also stage centenary celebration matches as part of the anniversary programme. Spain's role as a host nation adds significance to Netflix's broadcasting deal, as the platform prepares to deliver the tournament to local audiences.

Netflix's coverage will include programming designed to appeal to Spanish viewers, with analysis and match-day content complementing the live action.
