CapCut has announced a new partnership with Google Gemini that will bring video and photo editing features directly inside the Gemini app. Google's Gemini AI is expanding beyond chat to become a fully fledged creative tool. The new update features prompt-based image editing that feels more like typing commands than using a regular application.

According to reports, with the update, users can upload an image or create one from scratch. One can also modify, change the background, lighting, and even switch tones easily.

Google is integrating Gemini with tools like Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom. This helps blend the everyday uses of AI with professional ones. This shows how Gemini will be a part of the ecosystem as an assistive technology.

Users can now edit images in multiple steps. With each new prompt, users can refine the output further. The process resembles an iterative approach often used in game development. For example, users can start with a different exposure level. Then, make changes to the mood, apply weather effects, and so on.

Google’s Plan Ahead

Gemini is also experimenting with in-image markups. Now users can circle, highlight parts of images, and write instructions for their selection. The combination of both approaches provides clearer and more accurate localized editing.

Looking ahead,  this feature makes edits feel less ambiguous and more precise. It’s similar to tapping hitboxes in a video game rather than changing settings overall. There is more control with no added complexity.
