Google has introduced a new AI-powered feature called Video Remix in Google Photos. This allows users to edit and transform videos within seconds. The tool is powered by Gemini Omni, Google's latest AI model, and is rolling out to eligible Google AI subscribers in India and several other countries.

The new feature is available through the Create tab in Google Photos. It offers a range of editing options that simplify video enhancement without requiring advanced editing skills or dedicated software.

Beyond Basic Filters

Video Remix allows users to apply cinematic lighting, replace backgrounds, and add artistic effects to videos. Users can choose styles such as watercolor, oil painting, and raw sketchbook to give clips a different visual appearance. The tool also allows users to change the mood of a video with lighting adjustments.

A clip recorded in low light can be brightened with cinematic relighting, while outdoor scenes can be given a different visual atmosphere through AI-generated effects. Google confirmed that the feature is designed to help users create polished videos with only a few taps inside the Photos app.

Part of Google's Strategy

Adding advanced video editing directly to Google Photos gives users another option to create content without moving to professional editing software.  The tech giant has assured that the AI model can generate a wide range of content from multiple types of input. Google has already started rolling out Video Remix to eligible Google AI Plus, Pro and Ultra subscribers.

The feature is currently available in the US, India, Argentina, Bangladesh, Brazil, Colombia, Egypt, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, Pakistan, Philippines, South Korea and Turkey. The rollout started on July 8 and it will expand to supported users in these regions over the next few weeks.

Google Photos Continues to Expand

Video Remix has joined a growing list of AI tools inside Google Photos. The app recently introduced touch-up features that help users remove blemishes, improve skin texture, brighten eyes and whiten teeth through AI-assisted editing. Google has also announced an AI-powered wardrobe feature that turns photos of clothing into a digital closet.

Users can create outfit ideas and virtually try different clothing combinations using the tool. Google's focus is now on making AI-powered photo and video editing more accessible through everyday consumer apps. The integration also strengthens Google's broader ecosystem by keeping more creative tools within a single app.
