Google will open pre-orders for its new Googlebook laptops on September 21. The new laptop platform brings Gemini Intelligence deeper into the computing experience. Google is positioning Googlebook as a premium category alongside its existing Chromebook lineup.
The first Googlebook laptops will be developed with Acer, Asus, Dell, HP and Lenovo. Google itself will not manufacture the devices. The partner brands are expected to launch different models with varied screen sizes and processors. All models will use the Googlebook software experience.
Google informed users who registered their interest. The company confirmed the pre-order date. It did not announce the prices, shipping dates or country-wise availability yet.
Googlebook is designed around Gemini Intelligence. The AI is integrated into the operating system rather than being limited to individual applications. It helps with productivity, multitasking and personalization.
Google introduced features such as Magic Pointer, Create My Widget, Cast My Apps and Quick Access. Magic Pointer can recognize content on the screen and suggest related actions. Create My Widget can build desktop widgets through natural language commands. Cast My Apps can bring compatible Android apps to the laptop. Quick Access allows users to access files stored on their Android phones.
Google described the platform in a post shared in May. The company said, “Introducing Googlebook, the first laptop designed for Gemini Intelligence. It’s crafted for heavyweight performance, built with Gemini at the core.”
Googlebook and Chromebook will continue as separate laptop categories. Googlebook is aimed at premium hardware and deeper Android integration. Chromebooks will continue to serve budget and mainstream users with a cloud-focused ChromeOS experience.
Several key details are still pending. Google did not disclose model-wise pricing, RAM and storage options, processor configurations, retail availability or shipping timelines. More information is expected around the September 21 pre-order window.
