OpenAI launched ChatGPT for Financial Services, a specialised version of its enterprise AI platform for banks, investment firms and financial professionals. Powered by GPT-6 Astra, it focuses on investment banking and equity research.

OpenAI developed the service with Morgan Stanley and Evercore as design partners. The tech giant wants the platform to handle financial research, data analysis, and creating client-ready materials within a single workflow.

Built for Financial Research and Analysis

ChatGPT for Financial Services can handle tasks that typically require analysts to work across multiple databases, documents, and spreadsheets. The platform can research companies, analyse financial statements and compare businesses. It can also support valuation work, M&A analysis, and other investment banking workflows.

OpenAI explained, “ ChatGPT for Financial Services comes with built-in data from providers including Daloopa, PitchBook, LSEG News and Crunchbase. The datasets cover areas such as earnings transcripts, financial statements, company information and private companies.”

The company explained further, “OpenAI hosts and indexes this data on its infrastructure. This means financial teams can start using the datasets without negotiating separate contracts or setting up individual connectors.”

GPT-6 Astra Enters Finance: What’s More

Security remains a major focus as financial institutions routinely handle confidential information. ChatGPT for Financial Services includes enterprise controls such as SAML single sign-on, SCIM provisioning and role-based access controls. Organisations can also manage data retention and control access to applications and their read-and-write capabilities.

OpenAI claims that customer data is encrypted and is not used to train its models by default. Compliance teams can also export workspace logs for auditing and investigation workflows.
