Indian travellers planning a trip to Dubai can now book tickets for At the Top, Burj Khalifa using the Unified Payments Interface (UPI). You can now complete payments on Burj Khalifa’s official website before travelling, eliminating the need to rely on international cards during the booking process. The development makes At the Top, Burj Khalifa the first tourist attraction in the UAE to accept UPI for e-commerce transactions.
Online payments can be made via collaboration among NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL), NEOPAY, and Emaar Entertainment. This helps Indians choose their Burj Khalifa experience and make payments via UPI-enabled apps from within the country itself.
The expansion of payment solutions stems from the collaboration that NIPL had with NEOPAY, through which it brought QR-based UPI merchant payments to the UAE in 2022. This comes in the wake of the fact that Indians had been using UPI at participating retail outlets in India.
Officials further said, “The integration responds to growing demand for familiar and seamless payment options among Indian travellers. Visitors can now confirm their attraction tickets before departure using the payment system they already use in India.”
NEOPAY explains the launch is a milestone for digital commerce across borders. It is the first company in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries that has made it possible for UPI to be accepted during e-commerce.
On the other hand, Emaar Entertainment pointed out that India is among the largest sources of foreign visitors to the attraction. This new mode of payment adds value at the beginning of the customer experience process.
