The United Arab Emirates has taken another step in expanding its digital financial ecosystem after the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) granted regulatory approval to KamelPay, a fintech platform developed through an artificial intelligence-focused industrial venture. The approval strengthens the country's ambition to position itself as a regional hub for AI-driven financial services while encouraging innovation under a regulated framework.
This approval allows KamelPay to function in the country's regulated financial environment. The goal of this system is to use artificial intelligence to make payments online more convenient and efficient. This also highlights the approach of the country's regulator that is aimed at promoting innovation without putting financial stability or regulation at risk. With its new technology, the Central Bank of the country wants to regulate the activities of the company in order to promote responsible innovation.
"The strength of every economy depends on the strength of its financial ecosystem," said Hussain AlQemzi, Chairman of KamelPay.
"As the UAE continues to advance its digital economy, ensuring that businesses of every size and every member of the workforce have access to secure, regulated, and inclusive financial services becomes increasingly important."
He added: "We are deeply grateful to the Central Bank of the UAE for entrusting KamelPay with the SVF and RPS licences. This defining milestone strengthens our commitment to supporting the country's digitisation agenda."
The approval of KamelPay is part of the broader agenda of UAE authorities in incorporating artificial intelligence in vital industries, such as banking, logistics, manufacturing, and governmental services. In the last year, Abu Dhabi and Dubai have made numerous announcements on the implementation of their initiatives to promote AI through investment funds and sovereign infrastructure projects, as well as public and private partnerships.
Analysts state that the use of AI is becoming prevalent in the area of fraud prevention, customer service automation, credit scoring, and borderless payments. Regulatory authorities have developed approaches to fostering innovations in the market and keeping consumer protection and cybersecurity among top priorities.

With the increasing need for fast digital payments, embedded finance services and intelligent financial solutions, there have been a number of opportunities for businesses that work in the sphere of automation and intelligent financial infrastructures.
Also, government-led initiatives and favorable regulations have facilitated the UAE in becoming one of the leading places in the Middle East for technology investments. Industry experts feel that further regulatory approvals would enable more fintech companies to invest in UAE and develop AI-based products.
The approval of KamelPay signals the UAE's broader commitment to combining artificial intelligence with financial innovation.
