Al-Futtaim Lexus has launched the Lexus RZ 500e in the UAE at AED 255,000. It is adding a fully electric SUV to its local range. The model is offered in a single Platinum AWD grade with a 74.6kWh battery and a claimed driving range of up to 460km.
The RZ 500e produces 375hp and can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 4.6 seconds. Lexus pairs the performance with its DIRECT4 all-wheel-drive system, which adjusts power distribution between the front and rear axles based on driving conditions and inputs.
The UAE-spec RZ 500e comes with a 14-inch multimedia display and a Mark Levinson premium audio system. It also gets Lexus Safety System+ 3, which provides the model’s driver-assistance features. Lexus has focused heavily on cabin refinement. The SUV uses acoustic glass, additional sealing and targeted insulation to reduce road and external noise.
The interior follows Lexus’ Tazuna cockpit concept, with key displays and controls positioned around the driver. Buyers can choose from 10 exterior colour combinations and three interior options. The RZ 500e arrives alongside the new ES hybrid and electric sedan, giving Lexus customers more choice across body styles and powertrains.
Lexus claims the RZ 500e can charge from 10% to 80% in around 30 minutes using DC fast charging. Actual charging times can vary with the charger, battery condition and other factors. The company has also made regional adjustments for Middle Eastern conditions. These include air-conditioning tuning, infrared-cut glass and ventilated seats. The electric drive system uses water cooling for thermal management.
Jacques Brent said the vehicles received changes for Middle Eastern conditions while acknowledging that high temperatures can still affect range. No measured UAE summer range figure was provided. For buyers, charging access will be an important consideration. Brent identified city commuting as a strong use case for electric models and said a hybrid could suit drivers with longer commutes or limited home charging access.
A mobile charger will be supplied with the vehicle, while wallbox installation is available through Al-Futtaim’s Charge2MOOV network. The cost of wallbox installation was not confirmed as part of the AED 255,000 price. The RZ 500e therefore targets buyers seeking a premium electric SUV with Lexus comfort and local ownership support. A practical assessment of daily driving distance and charging access will be important before purchase.
