It will be an exciting blend of entertainment and competitive gaming on one of the largest esports platforms.

Music Meets Esports on Global Stage

This year's opening ceremony aims to blend gaming culture with mainstream entertainment. Aya Nakamura, one of France's most successful music artists, will join internationally known DJ Snake and Theodora for the opening show.

Mike McCabe, Deputy CEO and Chief Operating Officer, Esports Foundation, said, “The Opening Ceremony is our chance to welcome the world to the Esports World Cup. As we bring EWC 2026 to Paris for the first time, we wanted to celebrate the city through artists who have helped shape music and culture in France today. Aya Nakamura, DJ Snake, and Theodora each represent something different, but together they reflect the creativity and influence that make Paris such a special place to host this event.”

The event is expected to feature live performances, visual effects, and celebrations that highlight both French culture and the global gaming community.

Esports Continues its Mainstream Rise

The presence of famous musicians reflects just how far this competitive gaming industry has progressed since then. No longer seen as a specialized pursuit, esports today has developed into an international entertainment business that attracts millions of fans and even celebrities.

Modern esports competitions have begun to adopt elements of regular sports championships, such as opening ceremonies, concerts, fan fairs, and even worldwide broadcasts. According to industry insiders, such partnerships benefit not only esports but also the partnering businesses.
