Samsung has entered the consumer finance space in the US with the launch of its first branded credit card, the Samsung Galaxy Card. The Visa-powered card is issued in partnership with Barclays US Consumer Bank and is aimed at users who already rely on Samsung devices and services. Early access applications are now open, while the public rollout starts on July 22.
New customers can also claim a welcome offer. Samsung says users who spend AED 7,345 ($2,000) within the first 90 days of opening the account will receive AED 7.60 ($200) in cashback.
The biggest rewards are linked to Samsung's own products and payment platform. Cardholders will earn 5% cashback on eligible purchases made directly from Samsung. Payments completed through Samsung Wallet will return 3% cashback. The card also offers 2% cashback on eligible streaming subscriptions, including Netflix, Disney+ and Spotify.
All other eligible purchases will earn 1% cashback. Samsung is also extending extra benefits to Galaxy Card users through its VIP Advantage program. Eligible customers will receive a 20% discount on memberships, along with 5% cashback on new memberships and renewals.
The Galaxy Card has been designed to work closely with Samsung Wallet. Users can add the card alongside payment cards, digital IDs, boarding passes, digital keys and other supported credentials in one place.
Samsung says that the payment experience is backed by its Knox security platform, which is already used across Galaxy devices for data protection.
The launch comes just ahead of Samsung's Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22. The company is expected to introduce its next foldable smartphones, including the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and Galaxy Z Flip 8.
The Galaxy Card signals Samsung's effort to strengthen its ecosystem beyond smartphones and wearables. The company is placing payments, rewards and digital services inside one platform, giving existing Galaxy users another reason to stay within its ecosystem.
