Saudi Arabia has ranked first globally in Resource Public Key Infrastructure Route Origin Validation (RPKI RoV). The Kingdom recorded an activation rate of 99.8%, according to the latest measurements by the Asia Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC).
The technology helps internet networks verify whether routing announcements come from authorized network operators. It reduces the risk of incorrect or unauthorized routing that could expose internet traffic to potential security threats.
The Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST) said the achievement reflects the communications sector’s efforts to adopt international best practices. It also highlights the development of Saudi Arabia’s internet infrastructure and its focus on improving network security and reliability.
The latest RPKI RoV results add to Saudi Arabia’s progress across other internet infrastructure indicators. The Kingdom ranks among the world’s top five countries for Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) implementation.
Saudi Arabia also ranks first among G20 countries for Domain Name System Security Extensions (DNSSEC) validation. DNSSEC helps verify the authenticity of information received through the domain name system, reducing the risk of certain forms of online redirection and manipulation.
Together, these indicators reflect progress in securing internet routing and domain name resolution. Both areas play an important role in maintaining reliable access to online services. The CST said the results demonstrate coordination across the communications sector and improvements in the maturity of the Kingdom’s internet ecosystem.

RPKI RoV, IPv6 and DNSSEC address different aspects of internet infrastructure. RPKI RoV helps networks assess the legitimacy of routing announcements, while IPv6 supports the continued expansion of internet addressing. DNSSEC adds authentication to Domain Name System data.
Saudi Arabia’s latest rankings highlight its progress in deploying these technologies as part of broader efforts to strengthen the security, efficiency and reliability of its digital infrastructure.
