The Middle East's technology and logistics ecosystem continued to attract fresh investment this week, with DP World strengthening its logistics footprint in Saudi Arabia while fintech startup Epic Markets closed a $10 million funding round. The two developments reflect the region's broader push to combine physical infrastructure with digital innovation, as governments and private investors accelerate efforts to diversify Gulf economies beyond oil.

DP World Deepens Saudi Logistics Presence

Global logistics giant DP World is expanding its operations in Saudi Arabia, reinforcing its long-term strategy of building integrated supply chain infrastructure across the Gulf. The move comes as the Kingdom invests heavily in transport, ports and logistics under its Vision 2030 program, positioning itself as a regional trade and distribution hub.

This new expansion project by the company is likely to increase connectivity in terms of cargo and enhance the process of freighting and border crossings for trading purposes. Multimodal logistics have always been one of the areas that DP World has been involved in; the company has been working on ports, intermodal transportation, warehousing, and technology in order to provide end-to-end logistics services for companies working in the area. Similar investments across the GCC and neighbouring markets underline the company's focus on expanding logistics capacity to meet rising trade demand.

“Supply chains today require greater flexibility, visibility and speed,” Mohammad Alshaikh, CEO of DP World Saudi Arabia, said in a statement.

He said the facility would provide scalable warehousing and distribution services while strengthening the company’s logistics footprint in Riyadh to support trade and economic growth across Saudi Arabia.

Epic Markets Raises $10 Million for Expansion

Epic Markets has secured $10 million in funding that will aid its product development, expansion into new regions, and technology improvements. The company provides digital investment and trading services that are designed to improve access to financial markets for retail and institutional investors.

The new funding is expected to help the business enhance its technological platform while enabling its operational expansion into new regions. Venture capitalists remain confident about financial technology companies that use automation and data analysis to facilitate investment and wealth management.

The financing round also points to consistent venture capital investment in fintech companies in the Middle East, which has seen a rapid growth of digital banking, investing, and embedded finance technology segments.

Technology and Infrastructure Drive Regional Growth

The announcements show how the physical infrastructure and digital platform are developing together in the Gulf. Investments are being made in logistics corridors, industrial zones, and smart trade networks, while startups continue to attract capital to update the financial services sector and increase digitization.

In recent times, Saudi Arabia and the UAE have presented themselves as complementary technology hubs, where investment is encouraged in various industries from logistics and artificial intelligence to fintech and advanced manufacturing. All these efforts are driven by regulatory reforms, public-private partnerships, and sovereign investments programs in order to improve competitiveness in the region.

Raveen Guliani, COO of Logistics at DP World GCC, said Saudi Arabia was among the company’s fastest-growing logistics markets in the region and an important gateway for regional trade.

“As supply chains become more integrated across the Gulf, customers are looking for partners that can connect warehousing, transportation, ports and distribution through one integrated network,” he said.

For businesses and investors, the new developments mean that there is still momentum in the technology-focused economy of the Gulf region. The expansion of logistics operations by DP World and successful fundraising by Epic Markets are just some of the developments in the region.
