Truecaller is set to upgrade its Caller ID feature through a new partnership with LinkedIn. Users can now connect their LinkedIn profiles to Truecaller and choose to display details such as their workplace and job title when they call someone.
The integration is designed to give recipients more context when an unfamiliar number appears on their screens. Instead of seeing only a name and phone number, callers who enable the feature can also show their professional identity. The partnership is available globally, with the initial rollout on Android. iPhone support is expected to follow.
The new feature allows Truecaller users to add their LinkedIn name and profile picture to their calling card. They can also display their workplace, organization, and job title. If the information has been verified through LinkedIn, the verification status can appear alongside the caller's identity on Truecaller.
Users receiving the call can also tap through to the caller's LinkedIn profile to see more information about their professional background. The integration is optional. Users decide whether their workplace and job title should appear on Truecaller and can disconnect their LinkedIn account whenever they want.
The Truecaller partnership comes alongside a broader expansion of LinkedIn's verification program. LinkedIn says more than 115 million members have now verified their identity or workplace.
The company is also testing a system that allows professionals to verify the work or education experience of people they know. Verified members can vouch for connections they have worked or studied with, adding another layer of information to professional profiles.
LinkedIn is also giving company page administrators additional tools to deal with people falsely associating themselves with an organization. Some companies will be able to require workplace verification from people claiming to currently work there.

For professionals, the change could make business calls easier to identify before answering. Recruiters, clients, suppliers, and other contacts often call from numbers that may not already be saved, making additional context useful.
According to Truecaller, the service has more than 500 million users worldwide. By bringing LinkedIn's verification signals into caller ID, the company is attempting to add another layer of information to incoming calls without requiring users to complete a separate verification process.
The feature is available now to Truecaller users on Android worldwide, while the iOS rollout is planned for a later date.
