UAE motorists could face another increase in petrol prices in October as international crude oil prices remain elevated. Brent crude has traded above USD 100 a barrel for much of September, putting upward pressure on the country's monthly fuel-price review.

However, the final October rates will depend on oil-market movements during the remaining days of September. Improving supply routes and diplomatic developments could also ease pressure on crude prices.

UAE Petrol Prices in September

The UAE raised retail fuel prices for September by about AED 0.20 per litre across petrol grades. Super 98 is currently priced at AED 3.80 per litre, while Special 95 costs AED 3.69. E-Plus 91 is priced at AED 3.61 per litre and diesel at AED 4.30.

The UAE used a monthly fuel-pricing mechanism since deregulating domestic fuel prices in 2015. The system tracks international energy-market movements, with revised rates announced toward the end of each month.

Brent crude was the key factor behind the latest pressure on UAE pump prices. The benchmark averaged just above USD 101 a barrel in September, compared with about USD 87.70 in August, according to Khaleej Times.

On Wednesday, Brent rose 2.3% to USD 101.52 a barrel before easing in subsequent trading. It had also approached USD 110 earlier in September amid concerns over disruptions to Middle Eastern energy supplies.

What Could Push October Prices Higher?

If Brent remains around current levels through the end of September, it could keep upward pressure on the UAE's October fuel-price adjustment.

The current September petrol rates remain below their 2026 peaks. Super 98 previously reached AED 3.95 per litre in June, while Special 95 touched AED 3.83 and E-Plus 91 reached AED 3.76. However, oil prices could also moderate. Saudi Arabia has been working to restore export capacity through its East-West Pipeline.
