Seven Apps That Make EV Driving Easier
Owning an electric car involves more than checking the battery level before a journey. Drivers also need to find charging stations, plan longer trips and manage charging payments. Several smartphone apps can make these tasks easier. From locating nearby chargers to checking their availability, these seven apps can help EV owners manage everyday driving.
UAEV – Find Fast Charging Stations
The UAEV app helps drivers locate fast and ultra-fast charging stations across the UAE. Users can check charger availability, charging speeds and prices before visiting a station. They can also start charging by scanning a QR code or using a UAEV RFID card. The app is developed by Etihad Water and Electricity.
DEWA Smart App – Access Dubai Chargers
Dubai EV owners can use the DEWA Smart App to find EV Green Charger stations. The app also allows registered users to start charging and monitor their charging sessions. Drivers who are not registered can use the guest charging option at supported stations. It is useful for people who regularly use Dubai's public charging network.
PlugShare – Check Charging Locations
PlugShare helps drivers find public charging stations in different locations. Users can filter chargers according to connector types and charging speeds. The app also includes reviews and photographs shared by other EV owners. These details can help drivers check a station before making the trip.
Google Maps – Plan Your Journey
Google Maps offers useful features for electric car owners. Drivers can search for compatible charging stations and check available information about charging points. On supported vehicles and in selected regions, the app can also estimate battery usage for a planned journey.
A Better Routeplanner – Plan Longer Trips
A Better Routeplanner, also known as ABRP, helps EV owners plan long-distance journeys. Users can select their vehicle model and enter their destination. The app then suggests charging stops and estimates the total journey time. It can also update the route while drivers are travelling.
Charge&Go – Find Charging Across UAE
The charge&go app helps UAE drivers locate EV charging stations through its network. Users can access charging services through the app and find suitable charging options for their journeys. It is a useful option for drivers looking to access charging services through a dedicated UAE platform.
