ChatGPT could soon bring Google Health support to Android users. Code found inside the ChatGPT Android app suggests OpenAI is preparing an integration with Health Connect, Google’s system for managing health and fitness data across apps.

The discovery does not confirm a launch. However, it indicates that OpenAI started building the groundwork for Android users to connect their health data with ChatGPT.

What the code reveals

An APK teardown of ChatGPT for Android version 1.2026.300 revealed references to Health Connect permissions. These permissions could allow the app to access selected health and fitness information stored on a user’s device.

The code reportedly includes support for historical health records, body weight, basal metabolic rate, body fat, lean muscle mass, and bone mass. It also mentions reproductive health data categories, including menstruation, sexual activity, and ovulation tracking.

One permission, ‘Read_health_data_in_background,’ stands out. It suggests ChatGPT may eventually update or process health information even when the app is not actively open.

Why it Matters for Android Users

Android users currently cannot connect health data to ChatGPT Health. The feature has so far focused on Apple Health and supported health records, leaving a major gap for Android users.

A Google Health integration would change that. Users could link data from fitness trackers, smartwatches and health apps through Health Connect. ChatGPT could then analyse trends across activity, sleep, body metrics and other health signals. Health Connect acts as a central layer for health data on Android. It lets users control which apps can read or write approved health and fitness data types.

Google says third-party developers can integrate Health Connect and request access to specific data categories. Users remain in control of those permissions, which means ChatGPT would likely need explicit consent before accessing any information. OpenAI did not announce Google Health support for ChatGPT on Android.
