Samsung Galaxy S27 Pro is expected to feature a 200MP main sensor, a 50MP ultrawide, and a 50MP telephoto lens. The camera setup is designed to match ultra-premium hardware specifications. The strategic shift is a clear hint that high-end imaging features may soon become more common in smartphone cameras.

With the use of the 200MP sensor, the camera can crop without compromising on quality. The image can be re-framed after capture, something which is especially helpful when shooting a rapidly moving scene.

Samsung Brings New Hardware Updates

Samsung is reportedly focusing on raw imaging capabilities. The latest leaks suggest that the S27 Pro might offer competitive resolution and zoom flexibility.

As Samsung shifts towards hardware upgrades, Apple already has an advantage of its own. To test the camera’s strength, the tech giant recently recorded a live football game using several iPhones. This experiment demonstrated that Apple’s technology can perform reliably in real broadcast conditions.

It's worth mentioning that the iPhone 17 Pro Max system has an interesting advantage as it offers consistency in color calibration, encoding, and multi-camera recording synchronization.

The Plan Ahead

The hardware used by Samsung may be able to level this particular playing field. Howver, professional video relies on a whole lot more than just the equipment itself. Apple currently reigns supreme in many aspects, such as ProRes recordings, Log video support, and consistent colour reproduction.

Samsung is clearly making strides in this area. The future seems bright for Samsung with more sophisticated LOG video and pro-grade codecs to support its new lineups. Still there are a few challenges that the tech giant needs to address since it does not have the same level of expertise in live production settings as Apple does at the moment. The upcoming Galaxy S27 Pro might give Samsung a major boost to stay ahead in the competition.

Samsung will have to do more than developing hardware. The company needs to refine its software and colour support as well. It will take time for the smartphone maker to catch up with Apple in terms of ecosystem support. For now, Apple remains the better choice when it comes to broadcast-level production output.
