Samsung is making a strategic shift with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide. Instead of making an adventurous upgrade, the tech giant has focused on enhancing everyday use and user convenience. The Fold 8 Wide is likely to feature a noticeably lighter body. Reports indicate the weight may drop close to 200 grams. This would make it easier to carry and use for longer periods.

Samsung Focuses on Usability with Fold 8 Wide

Samsung tipster Ice Universe posted on X, “The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide will weigh just 201g. That's lighter than Samsung's own Galaxy S26 Ultra at 214g and significantly lighter than Huawei's Pura X Max at 229g. Included in that lightweight frame is a 4,800mAh battery, which is 400mAh bigger than the Galaxy Z Fold 7's power pack, and it will support 45W fast charging.”

The improved profile design might solve another significant problem that exists among foldable phones. One of the main features is the inclusion of the higher aspect ratio. According to some predictions, the Fold 8 Wide will have a screen with a 4:3-like aspect ratio. Such improvements should positively impact usability and multitasking performance.

Users would experience better usability while typing and watching videos on the phone. Moreover, this feature could reduce the need for constant screen adjustments. Improvements in terms of battery performance are anticipated to be quite significant.

Samsung’s Fold 8 Wide: An Overview

Samsung has also increased its charging capabilities. According to rumors, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide will support 45W wired fast charging. It represents a significant step forward compared with previous generations.

Nevertheless, it seems like the company decided to leave its wireless charging capabilities untouched. It remains far behind competitors when it comes to fast charging. The new Samsung smartphone will be unveiled in July at its Unpacked event. Judging by leaks, the Samsung Fold 8 Wide can be considered the mature version of folding phones.
