Gemini Live has been updated with enhanced personalization capabilities. This enables the AI chatbot to access user chat history, memories, and information from selected connected apps. The purpose of the update is to make conversations with Gemini Live more contextual, as the chatbot will be able to use information users provided before.

The update has recently been added to Google’s support documentation and rolled out to certain users. Now, users don’t need to provide background information repeatedly when talking to Gemini Live.

How the New Feature Works

Gemini Live can use prior conversations and memories to formulate answers that better match user requirements. Information from the supported connected apps can be used by the system if users have granted permission.

Google posted on its official blog, “Gemini Live can now use memories of your past chats and info from some Connected Apps. Gemini Live follows the same permissions that you choose when you chat with Gemini.”

According to Google, this new feature operates on the same permissions and privacy settings as regular Gemini chats. It is up to the user to decide what kind of data AI can access. Google has consistently developed Gemini’s memory functionality. Previous updates have enabled Gemini to use past conversations and user preferences.

Push Toward a More Personal AI Assistant

The latest update indicates Google’s plan to make Gemini a persistent AI assistant rather than a standalone chatbot. Using chat history, stored memories, and app integrations, Gemini Live can provide customized answers based on a person’s continuous activities, interests, and habits.

For instance, Gemini Live can remember conversations about travel plans, work projects, or personal preferences and use that context during future voice interactions. Based on reports and support documentation, this function is currently available in English in the United States. It is planned that the availability will be extended in the near future.
