Google is all set to launch its long-awaited smart speaker. A recent listing from Best Buy Canada points to a June 25 release. This is the first specific timeline to emerge after months of vague guidance. The product page reportedly shows the device as available on that date. Google has not officially confirmed the listing.

Google Home Speaker to Debut in Late June

Google previously announced “the Google Home Speaker last summer. It will be powered by Gemini instead of the traditional Google Assistant, which has been the subject of numerous complaints in recent months. While the speaker comes with Google Gemini, users will have to sign up for a monthly subscription to access additional AI features such as Gemini Live.”

That window is nearly over, with no official announcement. The lack of updates led to speculation about possible delays. With the leak, some of these questions may have been answered. Buyers and developers now have a clearer timeline for their home automation plans.

This launch means a lot for Google. It will be the company's first launch of a smart speaker in six years. Google last released a smart speaker in 2020. This launch is anticipated to mark a turning point for the firm. Google will shift focus from Assistant to Gemini.

Gemini AI to Lead the Experience

The speaker will feature Gemini AI integration. This means you can expect more natural interactions and better context processing abilities. Voice controls are expected to work more seamlessly across Google devices.

Other features include 360-degree sound and greater integration with the smart home. Prices for the product may be around $99, making it competitive in the market. Product pages from various retailers, including Google's US store, still list the device as ‘coming soon.’

Google may regain market share in the smart speaker segment, with AI at the center of its strategy in this rumoured launch.
