Gabriela Chiquin, the alleged cover girl for Grand Theft Auto 6, has released a new statement regarding her apparent likeness on the game cover. Shortly after the cover art for Grand Theft Auto 6 was revealed, fans online began searching for the woman featured on it.
Many users claimed they had identified her based on the striking resemblance to the cover character. They pointed to similar facial features, a matching hairstyle, and clothing in the same color palette.
Fans also compared both older and recent photos of her, saying the similarities were hard to ignore. Neither Rockstar Games nor Chiquin have acknowledged that she is the inspiration at press time, but the latter has commented twice on the subject.
Chiquin, a Venezuelan musician, DJ, and influencer, wrote on Instagram, “They say I look like the brunette in GTA 6,” in response to online accusations that she was the classic "cover girl" in Grand Theft Auto games.
She reportedly said, “I want to thank the entire GTA community for so much love,” according to publications like Push Square. I never thought I would get so many messages, memes, and comments.” Then, Chiquin's most recent response would be the third regarding her seeming resemblance on the game's cover.
She claims that borrowing her resemblance might have been ‘a good choice’ by Rockstar Games in an Instagram post where she is wearing the initial attire that attracted followers.
This remark may reflect the overwhelming popularity and fan outpouring she has witnessed, which is but a small portion of what Rockstar Games and Take-Two have already accomplished with Grand Theft Auto 6.
For instance, even though the dust hasn't settled, one report claims that Grand Theft Auto 6 made $1 billion in just one hour. However, Chiquin undoubtedly benefits from even a tiny portion of that attention.
It's important to note that Chiquin's status as ‘GTA 6 Cover Girl’ inspiration has neither been confirmed by her nor Rockstar Games. These characters mostly serve as covert tone setters and don't appear in games.
It's an intriguing, if coincidental, fun fact that the role last appeared in-universe in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. The cover girl from Grand Theft Auto 4 and Grand Theft Auto 5 did not appear in either game when they were initially released.
They weren't without drama, though, and the GTA 6 cover girl is still too ‘new’ to predict how things will turn out.
Lindsay Lohan sued Grand Theft Auto 5 developer Rockstar Games and publisher Take-Two Interactive in 2014, alleging that the character Lacey Jonas, the GTA 5 cover girl, and related marketing materials were all based on her voice, appearance, and clothing line.
According to Rockstar/Take-Two, the character was not an exact representation of Lindsay Lohan, but rather a generic young blonde woman who was a general sarcastic take on the stereotype. Later, Lohan's GTA 5 case was dropped.
Overall, it appears like Chiquin is having fun regardless of whether she is indeed the cover girl, and no one has come up to refute ‘her’ assertion. Rather, it appears that Rockstar made a ‘good choice’ regarding the GTA 6 cover girl's beauty and impact on fans, regardless of the truth.
