Apple’s iOS 27 developer beta is now available, but the company is cautioning users against installing it on their primary iPhones. The update, unveiled at WWDC, introduces Apple Intelligence features including a redesigned Siri AI, expanded screen time tools, and new liquid glass customization. However, Apple says beta software is still unstable and may affect performance and battery life.
Apple has advised users to install the developer beta only on spare smartphones. The company noted beta versions often contain bugs and incomplete features, and performance can vary across builds. The developer beta is currently live through Apple’s developer program.
A public beta is expected next month and will offer a more stable experience for general users. Apple stated that users who rely on iPhones for daily functions such as banking apps, eSIM services, and digital wallets should avoid installing early builds on their primary phones.
iOS 27 introduces Siri AI as part of the tech giant’s wider Apple Intelligence system. The assistant is integrated across the operating system, including a dedicated app and Dynamic Island interactions. However, complete Apple Intelligence features are limited to iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and newer models.
Standard iPhone 15 and earlier handsets will receive the interface updates without advanced AI functions. Apple confirmed feature rollouts will continue through successive beta updates, with refinements expected over the summer cycle.
In the UAE, Apple Intelligence availability is further shaped by language support. Early rollout focuses on English, while Arabic is not included in the initial list of supported languages. This limits early use of Siri AI for users whose phones operate primarily in Arabic, even on supported hardware. Analysts say this reduces immediate demand for beta testing in the region.
iOS 27 supports devices as old as iPhone 11, including SE models from the second generation onwards. However, Apple Intelligence stays restricted to newer Pro models starting from iPhone 15 Pro. The gap creates a split experience where most users receive design updates, while advanced AI tools are still limited to high-end models.
Apple offers two early access paths. The developer beta is available now, while the public beta is expected next month via Apple’s beta program. Industry experts say the public beta is the safer option for most users, especially those without spare devices.
The final release is expected in autumn alongside the next iPhone lineup, where stability and full feature rollout will be prioritized over early experimentation.
