OnePlus officially unveiled the Buds Clip, its first open-ear earbuds with a clip-style design. The company is targeting users who want all-day comfort without sealing their ear canals, a segment currently led by rivals such as Huawei and Samsung.
The Buds Clip sit outside the ear canal and attach to the ear using an adaptive nickel-titanium C-bridge. The earbuds can also detect whether they are worn on the left or right ear, allowing users to swap them freely.
The headline audio feature is a dual-driver setup in each earbud. OnePlus paired an 11 mm woofer with a 9 mm tweeter to cover low, mid and high frequencies separately. Each driver receives power from a dedicated digital-to-analogue converter, or DAC.
The earbuds support LHDC 5.0 for high-resolution wireless audio, along with a 10-band equalizer and BassWave for stronger low-end output. The open-ear format often leaks sound, but OnePlus says it has addressed this with a dipole sound-field design. The company claims the system directs sound toward the listener while reducing what others nearby can hear.
OnePlus rates the Buds Clip at up to 9.5 hours of playback on a single charge in AAC mode. With the charging case, total playback reaches 40 hours. In LHDC mode, the company claims up to 8 hours from the buds and 36 hours with the case. The earbuds use Bluetooth 6.1 and support connections to two devices.
The Buds Clip carry six microphones with AI-based call processing. OnePlus says this setup should help isolate the user’s voice in noisy environments. Touch controls allow users to manage playback, calls and voice assistants.
The earbuds carry an IP55 rating, which protects them against dust and water splashes. The Buds Clip marks OnePlus’s push beyond conventional in-ear TWS products. With dual drivers, Dynaudio tuning and a long battery claim, the company is clearly aiming at premium open-ear buyers rather than budget users.
