CrowdStrike and e&, have completed the first cohort of its government-backed cybersecurity startup accelerator. The initiative aims to strengthen the country's cybersecurity ecosystem while supporting entrepreneurs building next-generation security technologies.
The program forms part of the UAE Cybersecurity Technology Innovation Bureau's (CTIB) long-term strategy to accelerate the growth of more than 500 cybersecurity startups over the coming years. It also aligns with the UAE National Cybersecurity Strategy, which seeks to develop locally built cybersecurity solutions with global market potential.
According to the organizers, “Participating startups received access to technical mentoring, business strategy support, investor networks, and market development opportunities. The program included more than 30 hours of workshops and training sessions delivered by cybersecurity experts and industry leaders.”
The accelerator also guided product development, fundraising, and market expansion. Rather than focusing only on technology, the program was designed to help founders build commercially viable cybersecurity businesses that can compete internationally.
The initiative combines the strengths of four organizations. While AWS provides cloud capabilities and technology, CrowdStrike provides cybersecurity expertise and industry insights.
The UAE Cybersecurity Council assists with policymaking, while e& helps connect the startups across the region through its digital infrastructure. In the words of the partners, this model allows for rapid development, validation, and commercialization of innovative cybersecurity products in response to growing cyber risks worldwide.
Experts suggest that the accelerator aims to achieve the UAE’s goal of becoming a key destination for innovation in cybersecurity. Besides helping startups, the program would attract investment, foster research, and create high-tech jobs across the nation.
The accelerator will help develop ‘Made in UAE’ cybersecurity solutions that could cater to the needs of regional and international clients. The organizers expressed hope that sustained cooperation between the government, industry, and entrepreneurs would make the UAE more resilient to cyber threats and a key player in the global cybersecurity arena.
