The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) is expanding its digital-asset capabilities with new infrastructure designed to support the issuance, listing, and trading of assets on blockchain networks. ADX Group signed a strategic agreement with digital-asset custody technology provider DFNS to develop secure wallet infrastructure and Tokenization capabilities.
The partnership is expected to give the exchange a foundation for offering a broader range of on-chain investment products as digital assets become more integrated with traditional capital markets.
Under the agreement, DFNS will provide enterprise-grade wallet technology that can support the secure management of digital assets and transactions across blockchain networks. DFNS provides wallet infrastructure to banks, fintech companies, and other businesses involved in on-chain activity.
Its technology supports more than 30 blockchain networks and around 1,000 tokens. For ADX, the partnership is intended to connect digital-asset custody and Tokenization capabilities more closely with its existing market infrastructure. This could allow the exchange to develop systems for digital assets while maintaining the governance and operational standards expected of a financial market institution.
ADX said the initiative forms part of its wider digital-assets strategy. The exchange has already taken steps in this direction, including the listing of digitally native bonds and work related to tokenized equities.
Tokenization involves representing ownership or economic rights linked to an asset through digital tokens on a blockchain. For financial markets, the technology can potentially support new ways of issuing, transferring, and managing investments.
The latest partnership gives ADX infrastructure that can support these activities as the exchange explores additional on-chain products and services.
Abdulla Al Nuaimi, Group Chief Executive Officer of ADX Group, said the exchange aims to establish a secure foundation for a broader range of on-chain products while maintaining governance, operational resilience and investor confidence.
“By integrating secure digital asset wallet and tokenization technology into our ecosystem, ADX aims to establish a robust foundation for a broader range of on-chain products and services. This advances our strategy to position Abu Dhabi as a globally connected hub for the next generation of capital markets, where innovation is underpinned by robust governance, operational resilience and investor confidence,” said Abdulla Al Nuaimi.
The partnership also places ADX among the early financial market infrastructures in the region working to develop integrated digital-asset wallet and Tokenization capabilities.
The move comes as financial centres across the UAE continue to explore regulated applications of blockchain and digital assets. Dubai, for example, has already advanced Tokenization projects covering real estate and commodities, including fractional digital interests in physical assets.

For ADX, the DFNS agreement is less about launching a single digital product and more about building the underlying infrastructure required for future offerings. If the technology is integrated successfully, the exchange could use it to support digital issuance, custody and trading while maintaining links with conventional capital-market systems.
The initiative strengthens Abu Dhabi’s broader push to develop financial infrastructure around emerging digital-asset markets and could give ADX greater flexibility as investor demand for tokenised products develops.
