Apple carried out another round of targeted job cuts in the US, reportedly affecting a small number of employees on its Fitness+ audio team. The latest reductions follow a broader restructuring in August that impacted more than 200 positions across teams working on Siri, Vision Pro and software.
The changes do not indicate that Apple is shutting down Fitness+. Instead, the company is reportedly reducing the pace of new audio content as it reassesses the service's content strategy and costs.
The latest reported reductions involve employees working on the audio side of Apple Fitness+, including content associated with features such as Time to Walk and Time to Run.
For one Apple software engineer, the timing has been particularly striking. Marko Crnković said he was informed of his layoff exactly 10 years after moving to California with the ambition of eventually working for the iPhone maker. His last day at Apple is scheduled for October 19, 2026.
Crnković said the news came as a surprise, particularly because some projects he had worked on had only recently been announced during Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference. He also recalled a photograph he took in 2023 featuring an “EXIT” sign, an image that gained new significance after the layoff.
The latest cuts follow a larger restructuring announced in August. More than 200 roles were reportedly affected across Siri, Vision Pro and software groups. Within Apple's Vision Products Group, around 100 positions were reportedly eliminated, particularly in gaming and immersive video. The restructuring comes as Apple reassesses how it develops content for Vision Pro, with production costs and the size of the current user base influencing the approach, according to the report.
Apple's Siri teams are undergoing a separate shift as the company develops its next-generation assistant around a new AI-focused architecture. That transition involves changes in the skills and roles required, with some existing positions being removed while the company builds capabilities in machine learning and AI. Apple has publicly highlighted its new Siri AI as part of its latest software strategy.

Apple's restructuring does not represent a complete halt to hiring. The latest layoffs therefore form part of a broader reorganization of selected teams rather than a company-wide workforce reduction. As Apple shifts resources toward newer technologies and strategic areas, it is scaling back some established projects and teams while other functions continue to expand.
