Dubai launched an artificial intelligence-powered virtual courtroom to help law students and trainee lawyers prepare for real hearings. The platform, called Meta Legal Space, was unveiled by UAE legal technology firm Legaline Platform at the Dubai AI Festival.

The company describes it as the first AI-powered courtroom simulator in the Middle East and North Africa. It aims to give young lawyers a safe space to practise advocacy before they face live courts, clients or opposing counsel.

A Courtroom Run by AI

Meta Legal Space places trainees in a customisable virtual courtroom. An AI judge presides over the hearing, while AI plays the court clerk, witnesses and expert witnesses. Trainees can act for either the claimant or the defendant.

The system does not follow a fixed script. It responds in real time to questions, arguments and objections. Each AI character has a distinct background, profession and behavior, which shapes how it answers during questioning.

Witnesses are designed to hold back certain facts. Trainees must study the case file, ask the right questions and use cross-examination to uncover information. The platform also includes an AI opposing lawyer, but students can instead argue against another student.

Training for Real Hearings

The simulator covers litigation, arbitration and mediation. It allows users to conduct proceedings under UAE onshore law, the Dubai International Financial Centre framework and the Abu Dhabi Global Market framework.

Legal professionals have designed the case material. The platform assigns difficulty levels according to a trainee’s experience, so a first-year law student and a pupil lawyer can face different challenges.

The launch reflects Dubai’s wider effort to position itself as a hub for artificial intelligence and legal innovation. It also signals how law firms and universities may use simulation tools to prepare the next generation of advocates.
