Dyson entered the smart oral-care market with the CameraJet, an unusual electric toothbrush that combines brushing, precision flossing, a built-in camera, and smartphone connectivity. CameraJet is the company’s first toothbrush, following six years of research and development. It was unveiled by founder James Dyson in Paris on Tuesday (September 1, 2026).
According to Dyson, the device was designed to address a common problem with everyday dental routines: people often clean the visible surfaces of their teeth but miss the spaces between them.
The main attraction is a 100,000-pixel macro camera built into the brush. Dyson’s Gap Optical Targeting technology analyzes 28 images every second to locate and track the spaces between teeth.
When the system identifies a gap, it can trigger a targeted burst of mouth rinse through a small conical jet. Dyson mentioned that the jet can activate in about 100 milliseconds. It will offer users a combination of brushing and interdental cleaning in a single session.
The machine-learning system behind the feature was trained using more than 470,000 dental images collected during development. According to Dyson, the device contains around 16 million lines of code.
The CameraJet also brings connected features to the bathroom. It supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Users can also use the MyDyson app to access a live camera view, guided cleaning instructions, coverage mapping, and personalized brushing and flossing feedback. The camera can also provide a close-up view of the teeth.
Privacy is another important consideration for a product with a camera pointed inside the user's mouth. Dyson mentioned that images viewed through the app are not stored on the toothbrush or in the cloud.
The toothbrush has a compact 12.5ml tank designed to deliver liquid through the precision jet. Its diaphragm pump and pressure chamber are intended to maintain consistent performance even when the brush is held at different angles.
Instead of a conventional needle-style water jet, the device uses a wider conical spray to provide broader coverage while being gentler on gums and enamel. The brush head combines dual bristles with variable sonic oscillation. An RFID system also tracks brush-head usage and can indicate when replacement is required.
Dyson CameraJet is priced at USD 699 on Dyson’s Singapore website, while pricing varies by market. The company introduced the product in select markets. With its camera, connected app, and built-in flossing system, the CameraJet represents a major departure from conventional electric toothbrushes.
