Artificial intelligence is already shaping key government decisions in the UAE, often without residents noticing it. One of the clearest examples is Abu Dhabi’s ambulance system, where AI helps determine the best hospital for a patient before the vehicle even starts moving.
When an ambulance is dispatched, the system can access a patient's records, allergies, hospital capacity, specialist availability, operating theatre status and medicine stocks. The information helps emergency teams choose the most suitable destination in real time.
Thomas Pramotedham, CEO of Presight AI, stated the technology allows responders to make informed decisions within seconds. He said the goal is to get patients to facilities that can immediately provide the treatment they need.
The system reflects a wider shift across government services as the UAE moves to deploy agentic AI across 50% of government sectors, services and operations within two years.
The technology is already being used in other areas. Earlier this year, Presight worked with government partners to launch the UAE’s Regulatory Intelligence Ecosystem. The platform creates a digital model of proposed legislation and estimates its social and economic impact before implementation.
In the energy sector, Presight’s joint venture with ADNOC secured a $340 million contract to deploy AI systems across upstream operations. The company confirms the platform can reduce processes that previously took months to just a few days.
Pramotedham explained the resilience of these systems was tested during periods of regional tension that placed pressure on infrastructure and government services. According to him, the platforms continued operating without disruption while authorities maintained crisis response efforts.
The UAE is also drawing international attention for its AI ecosystem. Presight’s latest accelerator programme received 376 applications from 62 countries, with companies seeking access to systems already operating across UAE institutions.
The UAE’s latest AI mandate is not focused on building new concepts from scratch. It is centred on expanding technologies that are already embedded in healthcare, regulation, energy and public services. The next phase will be about scaling those systems across more sectors and bringing AI deeper into everyday government operations.
