Lexar introduced the Muse Ultra-Slim Portable SSD at IFA 2026 in Berlin, calling it the world’s thinnest portable SSD. The drive is 3.8 mm thick at its widest point and tapers to 1 mm along the edge. It uses a magnetic PogoPin connection rather than a standard USB-C port.
The Muse measures 80 x 48 mm and weighs around 26.5 grams. It will come in 512 GB and 1 TB storage capacities. Lexar says the SSD can deliver sequential read speeds of up to 1,050 MB/s and write speeds of up to 1,000 MB/s.
The drive connects to USB-C devices through a bundled SnapLink magnetic cable. N52 neodymium magnets help position the connector and keep it attached during use.
Lexar designed the SSD with mobile video production in mind. Its magnetic case can attach to compatible iPhones through MagSafe. With supported iPhone models, users can record 4K Apple ProRes video at up to 120 frames per second directly onto the external SSD.
The Muse will support the iPhone 15 and newer models, iPads, Macs and other USB-C devices. Lexar plans to launch the drive in the fourth quarter of 2026. The company has not announced pricing yet.
At IFA, Lexar is also demonstrating its AI Storage Core platform. The system combines new Gen5 storage hardware with the company’s Luma Bridge software. Lexar said its upcoming Gen5 SSD and USB flash drive can offer transfer speeds of up to 11 GB/s.
The company is also displaying storage solutions for electric vehicles and business users. Its range includes PCIe Gen 3 and Gen 4 client SSDs, along with USB flash drives designed for continuous recording in vehicle camera systems.
