Light introduced the Light Flip, a $299 5G flip phone designed to keep you connected without carrying the distractions of a modern smartphone. The clamshell device removes app stores, social media, web browsing, and infinite feeds. But it still has essential communication and utility features.
The phone is available for pre-order, with the first shipments expected in April 2027. Light comes as a simpler alternative for users who want to reduce screen time without giving up mobile connectivity.
Light Flip operates on the LightOS of the company. It does not come with the traditional app store, web browser, or social media services. The smartphone has other key features including:

Perform calculations
Work as a hotspot device
It also comes with an authenticator that enables two-factor authentication. The phone has no touchscreen but comes with a T9 keyboard and directional controls. It has a 2.8-inch matte OLED screen that is concealed when the phone is in its folded position.
Despite its old-school design, the Light Flip supports 5G connectivity. It also features Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, USB-C charging, and dual-SIM support. You also get a nano-SIM and eSIM.
The phone includes a 50-megapixel rear camera that produces 12-megapixel images, along with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It packs a replaceable 1,800mAh battery and retains a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Light has also announced a developer toolkit that can support additional utility functions. However, the company says the platform will remain focused on practical tools rather than monetisation-driven social media or endless feeds.
