UAE Joins BRICS Tax Talks in India on Technology, Cooperation and Modern Tax Administration

The UAE has joined tax officials from BRICS administrations in New Delhi for discussions on technology, international cooperation and the future of tax administration. The UAE Federal Tax Authority (FTA) participated in the BRICS Tax Experts and Tax Heads Meeting 2026. The meeting brought together tax officials and experts from 10 BRICS administrations.

India’s Central Board of Direct Taxes, under the Ministry of Finance, hosted the meeting. Officials discussed developments in tax administration and shared experiences on technology and human resources. The talks also examined challenges facing tax authorities and ways to strengthen cooperation between participating administrations.

UAE Shares Experience in Tax Technology

The UAE delegation was led by Abdulaziz Al Mulla, Director General of the FTA. Saida Kaddoumi Osman, Policy Adviser at the FTA, and Meera Qassim, International Relations Senior Analyst, also represented the authority.

The discussions allowed participating tax administrations to exchange practices and discuss the role of technology in improving tax systems. Al Mulla said international cooperation can help tax authorities learn from different experiences and develop new approaches.

“Our participation in the BRICS Tax Experts and Tax Heads Meeting 2026 provides an important opportunity to learn from diverse experiences, share best practices, and explore new approaches that can contribute to the continued development of tax administration,” he said. He also highlighted the UAE’s efforts to develop a tax system that uses technology to improve efficiency and the customer experience.

Focuses on International Cooperation

The meeting provided a platform for tax authorities to discuss common challenges and share approaches used in different administrations. Technology was among the key areas discussed during the sessions. Officials also examined human resources and other issues linked to tax administration development.

Al Mulla said platforms such as BRICS can strengthen professional ties between tax authorities. He also highlighted their role in supporting knowledge exchange as tax systems respond to economic and technological developments.

The UAE’s participation adds to its engagement with international tax authorities. The discussions in New Delhi focused on practical experiences and cooperation that can support the continued development of tax administration.
